There are many shower seats available, but we’re not satisfied designing just another seat, we have focused on designing a Full Length Back Shower Seat that offers real benefits and solutions for occupational therapists, chiropractors and physiotherapists, as well, of course as the end user.

What is the purpose of BACK support?

When we move from a standing to a seated position our lumbar curve flattens. Most of us associate sitting down as a comfort, but we possibly don’t appreciate that sitting down, for some people, can offer discomfort if they suffer with back, neck or pelvic pain, as the sitting position can increase stress on the bodies soft tissue, joints & discs.

And for people who may need to sit when taking a shower, it shouldn’t be uncomfortable for them to do so.

The addition of a free back support cushion helps to support the lower back quickly and conveniently, helping to relieve stress and strain from key muscle groups by promoting proper spine alignment and maintaining the spines natural ‘S’ curve.

Padded armrests aim to avoid additional strain to the neck & shoulders, whilst still being able to ‘flip up’ independently where side transfers are required.

RECOMMENDED POSITION

The cushion can be easily adjusted to enhance comfort for individual users by simply prising the cushion away from the seat’s backrest & repositioning in the backrest slots.

For optimum support and to maintain the ‘S’ curve of the spine the back cushion should be positioned flush against the small of the back.

Multiple adjustment locations mean the cushion can also be rotated by 180° so everyone should be able to find the perfect comfort point.

As previously mentioned, the Full Length Back Shower Seat offers real benefits for independence. The seats curved padding wraps slightly around the body to support an upright sitting position and the adjustable height legs should be set so the user’s feet are flat on the bathroom floor.
